A State of (Spiritual) Independence

The upcoming 4th of July holiday represents the day the 13 original colonies (then called the United Colonies) adopted the Declaration of Independence, which established their independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain. The people of the soon to be United States of America decided they needed a change. They came together seeking a new way to live, a new way to be, one that was more in tune and aligned with their needs and wants. They came together seeking their independence. At first read, this last line comes across contradictory, doesn’t it? How can something or someone come together to then be independent?

The struggle of those 13 original colonies is not much different that the struggles that we face today as individuals in a very complex world. Every day we battle with the thoughts of what we wish to be and ought to be versus what society and the world dictates to us that we should be. So how can one find a true state of spiritual independence?

Much like the original colonies, one needs to have their individual components all come together in unison.

The mind… what we think, the thoughts we allow in, the judgments we let in and out.

The body… again, what we allow in, how we harness our energy, where we exert our energy.

The soul… what makes us feel right, centered, balanced and at peace. Also, what do we wish to put out into the world?

Being in a true state of independence does not refer to only the unity of mind, body, and soul, but also past, present, and future.  One must be able to look backwards, without pride or judgment, to learn the lessons of the past that are needed to go forward. Diving into one’s past isn’t always an easy task. But the goal is no longer about assigning blame or pointing fingers, even at oneself. Once the lessons of the past have been noted and recorded, they must then be applied. The point becomes to find and take the positive building blocks and use them to build a new solid foundation. This becomes your new center, your new core. By applying them in the present, you are now creating the future that you want, a future aligned with being centered, balanced, and a true version of yourself.

But how exactly does one align the mind, body and soul with the past, present, and future?

Takes Building Blocks of the Past >>> Applying them to the Mind in the Present >>> Allows you to shape new (and healthy) Views and Habits >>> Which bring the Soul to a state of Peace & Equilibrium >>> Which puts a new you out in the universe creating a brighter Future.

Finding one’s true state of independence takes time. However, the process will get easier. Your new building blocks will open up a new sense of awareness, new sense of purpose, more in-tune and aligned with what YOU want to put out into the world. It’s time to let the real YOU come out and be free. Take the pieces that are uniquely yours and let them come together to create a state of independence, that can only be uniquely yours.
